Chef Matt Formagin was born and raised in the border cities of Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit Michigan. He began his craft at 15 years old, apprenticing under his Uncle at the once prestigious Lariviere Bistro. His gypsy spirit brought him to work in Toronto, Montreal, and all over Vancouver and British Columbia, mostly spanning time in luxury resorts and catering for the film industry.
Prior to arriving at Brella Vida he was a Culinary Instructor at Alberta's top academic school. His roots are in French and Italian, but also has a strong understanding of Mexican, Japanese, and Middle Eastern cuisine. His true passion for cooking is to curate the needs of the individual and using food as a platform to make connections.
